Model:
Peugeot 307. DW10BTED4 engine.

Problem:
Smoke emission from the exhaust.
Uneven idle and slightly reduced performance.
Pulsation can be felt from the clutch pedal under light pressure or first 3 cm of travel.

Cause:
2 Distorted connecting rods.

Solution:
Replace the engine.

Diagnostic indications

1. DTC stored in engine management ECU.
2. Compression on cylinder 2 and 3 reduced by about 10%
3. When turning the engine over by hand a slight tight spot can be felt. (with glow plugs removed)
4. Heavy smoke emission during warm up phase. Improved when operating temperature reached.
