Door Squeak 406

Problem: Persistent loud squeak from the A-pillar when the front door is moved to the open or shut position.

Cause: The movement of the door's check strap creates friction between a double layer of panels inside the A-pillar.

Solution: Remove the foremost stud of the outer door seal. (See picture below) Inject a lubricant through the stud hole in the A-pillar. Make sure the lubricant runs down along the inside wall of the pillar towards the strap mounting.
This is important as the noise is generated in the area above and not directly at the mounting point where most of the movement occurs.
Refit the rubber. Part number for new stud: P699786
