Model: 406 Sedan From MY 2000
Problem:
A creaking noise can be heard from the back of the vehicle when driving at slow speeds over uneven surfaces.
The noise is most pronounced when body-flex is imposed by diagonally entering a driveway or crossing a speed hump at a 45&176; angle.
Possible cause:
The cable operated latches for the rear backrests could be the source of the noise. The body-flex causes movement inside the locking mechanism.
Solution:
Lubricate the catch and more important, the mechanism inside the latch housing. Use grease or a heavy oil.
